This parallel is perfect, that’s what it is, and I applaud the writers for making it. These two women have been so important in Clark’s journey and they represent something very important for the Smallville mythos in particular: Clark’s longing for love and acceptance and the realization of that love and acceptance. In the Pilot gifs, this is a fantasy Clark has after the homecoming debacle where he didn’t get to dance with his dream girl. That was the perfect moment he didn’t get to have. But those Finale gifs right there—he is walking down the aisle to marry the love of his life (Clark’s words), this woman that accepts all of him without qualification, who sees both his human and Kryptonian sides as equally amazing parts of him (Abandoned), his equal in every way that matters and she loves him as unconditionally as he loves her. It’s the actualization of his perfect moment from the Pilot. He got everything he dreamed of. And I was crying like a baby for my boy who is now a man.

Ep 1x07 - Craving

The stars, the moon,
They have all been blown out,
You left me in the dark.
No dawn, no day,
I’m always in this twilight,
In the shadow of your heart.
“You changed my life. You’re gonna change a lot of people’s lives, Clark.”
